Information Blocking Awareness Training Course

Information Blocking Training Course

About Information Blocking

The Final Rule, published by ONC in May of 2020, offers definitions for Section 4004 of the 21st Century Cures Act. The Final Rule, more commonly referred to as the Information Blocking Final Rule or the Information Blocking Rule 2020, provides the official definition of Information Blocking as any practice that is likely to interfere with, prevent, or materially discourage access, exchange, or use of electronic health information. In other words, anything that unnaturally prevents access to patient health information.

About this Course

The Information Blocking Awareness course introduces participants to the Information Blocking definition and rules. Health care providers must educate and train their workforce on what constitutes information blocking. HHS specifically stated that the extension of the compliance date to April 5, 2021 was to allow more time for this type of training.
